Devney Perry is an American author. She is known for writing romance series. She has written over 50 novels and novellas. A film adaptation of her 2025 debut fantasy novel Shield of Sparrows is set to be produced by Amazon MGM Studios.^[1]

Perry was born and raised in Montana.^[2] She cites her home state as an inspiration, and sets many of her books there.^[3] She based Prescott, the fictional setting of her Jamison Valley series, on her father's hometown of Ennis, Montana, where she spent a lot of time as a child.^[4] Growing up, she aspired to be a doctor.^[5] In college, she changed course from pre-medical to economics. She had been working in the technology industry for almost a decade before becoming a writer. She became a writer after quitting her job at a big bank, when her younger son was three months old.^[6]

Perry has released fourteen series, which altogether consist of forty-five novels, seven novellas, and one short story. Most of her works are contemporary romance books set in Montana.

Perry has worked with Sarina Bowen and Rebecca Yarros in creating two trilogies: Hush Note and Madigan Mountain. For both trilogies, each author would write one entry, each focusing on a different character.

In 2025, Perry released Shield of Sparrows, her first fantasy novel. It debuted in the number one position of the New York Times Hardcover Fiction Best Seller List.^[7] A film adaptation produced by Amazon MGM Studios and written by Derek Kolstad was announced four days before the novel was released.^[8] Perry will executive produce the film alongside Kolstad.

Perry lives in Washington with her husband and two sons.^[2]
