Daniel Feltham is a sea-ice physicist and professor at the University of Reading.[1]. His research uses mathematical modelling to understand sea-ice dynamics, rheology, melt ponds, permeability, and the marginal ice zone.
Feltham has made major contributions to the physical representation of sea ice in climate models, including work on how sea ice fractures, deforms, drifts, and melts. His research on melt ponds has helped explain their role in reducing sea-ice albedo and accelerating seasonal ice loss.
He has also contributed to sea-ice model development, including work linked to the widely used CICE model, and has held leadership roles within the Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling sea-ice group.
Feltham was awarded the Seligman Crystal by the International Glaciological Society in recognition of his contributions to glaciology[2][3]
