Draft:Daniel Cubillo

Daniel Cubillo is a Spanish television producer and executive. He served as content director at Cuarzo Producciones and later as vice president of content development, non-scripted, at Telemundo Media.[1][2]

Career

In 2005, Cubillo was content director of Grundy Producciones, the Spanish subsidiary of FremantleMedia.[3] He subsequently became content director at Cuarzo Producciones. When he left the company in 2008, PRNoticias credited him as one of the principal figures behind its expansion beyond talk television into fiction, competition and comedy formats.[1] His work there included serving as an executive producer of the Televisión Española drama series Herederos.[4]

In 2009, Cubillo co-founded Magnum Contenidos Multimedia with television producer Lola Moreno.[5] A 2011 report in El País identified him as one of the company's founders and discussed its production model for lower-cost digital terrestrial television programming.[6]

In February 2013, Telemundo appointed Cubillo to the newly created position of vice president of content development, non-scripted, responsible for identifying and developing the network's variety programming, reality shows and specials.[2] During his tenure, he worked on the network's children's singing competition La Voz Kids. Coverage by an NPR member station identified Cubillo as Telemundo's vice president of non-scripted programming and noted his earlier production work on Spanish-language versions of The Apprentice, Big Brother, The X Factor and Temptation Island.[7]
