Cypronia (formerly Cypron Studios,[1] originally Ablaze Entertainment) is a Slovak indie video game developer based in Michalovce, founded by Stefan Pavelka and partners. Cypronia develops games for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms, as well as for Steam.[2]The studio is best known for its games State of War (2001), Cube Life: Island Survival (2014), and MEDIEVAL (2026).[3]
Cypronia began in 1996 under the name Ablaze Entertainment, founded and led by Stefan Pavelka[4][5][6] and partners, with its first releases targeting the Amiga platform. The studio’s early work included two titles: The Strangers,[7] a Beat 'em up game released in 1997, and the real-time strategy Napalm: The Crimson Crisis[8][9][10] in 1999.
In 2001, the company rebranded as Cypron Studios[1] as it shifted focus to Microsoft Windows development. Its first major PC title under this name was the real-time strategy game State of War (2001), featuring both solo and LAN competitive play, followed by a sequel, State of War: Warmonger (2003). These games helped establish the studio’s presence in the RTS market, particularly in Russia,[11] Czech Republic[12] and China,[13][14] where the title was known under the localized name 蓝色警戒 (“Blue Alert").[15] Several unofficial map editors were developed by members of the fan community, including Czech and Chinese versions, enabling players to create, modify, and share custom maps for State of War.[16][17] The State of War game with Warmonger sequel has since been re-released in bundled and ported editions on Steam.[18][19]
Throughout the 2000s, Cypronia produced a range of other PC and handheld titles, including Gods: Lands of Infinity,[20][21] licensed and original Nintendo DS games, before adopting the Cypronia name for good as it entered the portable and console markets in the late 2000s.[22][23][24]
The studio achieved international breakout success with Cube Life: Island Survival, an open‑world survival sandbox video game[25] originally released for the Wii U Nintendo eShop in June 2015. Cube Life capitalized on the absence of Minecraft on Nintendo platforms at the time and became one of the first sandbox titles on the system. It reached No. 1 in the Europe,[26] No. 2 in the American and No. 3 in the Japanese[27] Nintendo eShop charts. The game was later remade or ported to Steam[28] (2018), Android[29] (2018), Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.[30]
Building on this success, Cypronia is set to release its most recent and largest project, MEDIEVAL, in 2026. This third-person action RPG focuses on the life and exploits of the Bohemian military leader Jan Žižka during the early 15th-century Kingdom of Bohemia. Stefan Pavelka serves as lead game designer, and the game is connected to the 2022 Czech historical film Medieval (internationally released as Jan Žižka) directed by Petr Jákl,[31][32][33] which dramatizes Žižka's early career before the Hussite Wars. MEDIEVAL will be released on PC via Steam, featuring brutal, historically inspired combat and RPG elements in a fully 3D third-person perspective.
The game’s original language is English, but it will also feature a Czech-language dubbing[34], made possible by a successful crowdfunding campaign on Startovac.cz[35][36]. Additionally, MEDIEVAL will include in-game performances by actor Michael Caine[37] and cutscenes taken directly from the 2022 film Medieval. This project represents Cypronia's largest and most ambitious game to date.[3][38][39]
Since its founding, Cypronia[40] has developed and published games across a variety of genres and platforms, expanding into both ports and original projects for modern consoles such as PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. The company has built a catalogue of over 40 titles. Its upcoming game, MEDIEVAL, is expected in 2026, marking both the studio's 30th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of the original release of State of War.
Release year and platform each refer to the original (first released) version. Later releases on other platforms are therefore not taken into account in this list.

Article on the Czech historical film Jan Žižka (Medieval)(2022) by Petr Jákl, noting that the film will be accompanied by two video games, one of which will be developed by Cypronia.
Každá je naprosto jiná a obě budou distribuovány celosvětově.[Nowadays, selected Hollywood films also have games created for them, so I decided to make a game for our film as well. In the end, two were created. One for mobile phones and the other for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Each is completely different and both will be distributed worldwide.]
18. place – The Strangers
The Strangers is a highly challenging beat em up game as either gang warfare or deathmatch through 8 levels, and was released in 1997 by Vulcan Software, developed by Cypron Studios and was the first game released by Vulcan as part of the MegaSeries collection with up to 6 player support.
The Strangers combines excellent production qualities you would expect on a CD and very addictive gameplay, with many weapons available and options such as Gang Wars or Deathmatches for up to 6 human players, or solo play through 8 levels of mafia‑hunting beat‑'em‑up action.

Dne 23.2.1999 se udál v naší redakci velký svátek. Měli jste to vidět - Joe držel v ruce krásné barevné CD, uvítal mě ve svém, na amigistu nezvykle honosném separé apartmánu (v červené barvě) a procedil mezi zuby: „Je to Napalm, napiš na to recenzi".[On February 23, 1999, a big day occurred in our editorial office. You should have seen it—Joe was holding a beautiful colorful CD, welcomed me into his unusually lavish (for an Amiga user) private red apartment, and muttered through his teeth: 'It's Napalm, write a review for it.']
Po dlhšom čase som si vybral ďalšiu Slovenskú hru. Tentoraz to bude real-time stratégia z roku 2001, ktorú možno poznáte.[After a long time, I chose another Slovak game. This time it will be a real-time strategy from 2001, which you may know.]
I almost thought it was cause for celebration: after more than three years on the market, the Nintendo DS, a system that seems ripe for the real-time strategy genre, finally gets a traditional RTS game.
This classic turn-based strategy game feels old and slow on the Nintendo DS.
If you're a Jagged Alliance veteran who understands the game and know what you're doing, then this is a barely passable port. Just bear in mind that the stylus and camera controls are less than ideal, while the visuals haven't aged well and don't look good on the smaller screen.
