Current/OS is a nonprofit organization that develops technical guidelines and standards-related frameworks for hybrid AC/DC electrical distribution systems and DC microgrids.[1][2] to support the energy transition[3]. The organization includes partners companies, universities, and laboratories involved in direct-current electrical systems.
Current/OS is incorporated in The Netherlands. Its governance structure includes a board of director, an executive committee, and multiple committees. As of 2026, members of the board of directors were affiliated with companies including ABB, Eaton, Mersen, Schneider Electric, Tridonic and UL Solutions.
The Current/OS Foundation was established in 2021.
In 2022, the organization published an initial set of technical rules for DC microgrids, including guidance on voltage bands, power management, protection mechanisms, pre-charging processes, and grounding recommendations.
