The Official Rules of Crounders
Version 1.0
1. Overview
Crounders is a bat-and-ball sport combining elements of cricket and rounders. The game is played on a standard cricket field using a rounders bat and a wind ball. Success requires power, speed, accuracy and a healthy disregard for convention.
The objective is simple: score more runs than your opponent over two innings.
2. Equipment
3. Batting
4. Bowling
5. Dismissals
A batter may be dismissed by any of the following methods:
Special Crounders Catch Rule
A batter is also out if a fielder catches the ball:
This is known as a Crounders Catch.
LBW
Leg Before Wicket (LBW) does not exist in Crounders.
First Ball Immunity
A batter cannot be dismissed from the first legal delivery they face, regardless of the method of dismissal.
If they are bowled, caught, run out, stumped or otherwise dismissed on that delivery, they remain not out and play continues.
6. Innings
7. Spirit of the Game
Crounders encourages good sportsmanship, entertainment and friendly psychological warfare.
Players are expected to compete fairly while embracing the unique traditions of the game.
8. Official Distraction Rule
During the bowler’s run-up, players and spectators are encouraged to loudly shout:
“SHOW ME YOUR WILLY!”
This is recognised as an official distraction technique intended to test the batter’s concentration.
The phrase:
Players are reminded that while distraction is encouraged, abusive or offensive behaviour beyond this traditional phrase is contrary to the Spirit of Crounders.
9. Winning
After all players have completed their two innings:
Highest aggregate score wins.
In the event of a tie, competitors shall each face a Sudden Death Six (six legal deliveries). The highest scorer wins. If still tied, repeat until a winner is determined.
Motto
“One hand. One bounce. Seventy-two balls. One Willy.”
