Draft:ChessHere

ChessHere is an online chess platform operated by E4E5 LLC. It provides real-time and correspondence chess, tournaments, puzzles, game analysis, and training tools through its website and mobile applications.[1][2]

History

In March 2005, GamesIndustry.biz described ChessHere.com as a free online chess community offering correspondence games between players around the world.[3] A 2007 column by Ronald Suarez in the Illinois Chess Bulletin reported that ChessHere originated in the Chicago area and discussed it among server-based correspondence services where players could take days or weeks to make a move.[4]

In a retrospective review, Polish correspondence-chess writer Marcin Kasperski wrote that he had recommended ChessHere from 2005 until early 2008, citing its interface, tournament options, user base, and Polish-language support. He also reported a major database failure in February 2008 and criticized the subsequent redesign, while noting that the service continued to offer varied tournaments, opponent matching, team play, and correspondence time controls.[5]

In 2013, Michigan Chess published a recommendation by Don Vandivier describing ChessHere's free blitz and correspondence play, teams, forums, tournaments, and paid membership options.[6] The current service states that it is owned and operated by E4E5 LLC, a business registered in New Mexico.[1]

Platform

ChessHere supports bullet, blitz, rapid, and classical real-time games, along with correspondence games, tournaments, game review, Stockfish-assisted analysis, puzzles, and opening training.[1] Its mobile application is distributed through Google Play, with a corresponding iOS application linked from the official website.[2][7]

Independent assessments

The New South Wales Junior Chess League's comparative guide says it previously recommended ChessHere because it was the first chess site unblocked by the state Department of Education, but later preferred other servers. The guide describes ChessHere as having free and paid access, correspondence time controls, friend invitations, puzzles, and a master-game collection, while noting advertising and a comparatively small player pool.[8]
