Ronie Quitara Suan (born January 11, 2000), known professionally as Boy Tapang, is a Filipino vlogger and content creator from Alcoy, Cebu. He is known for mukbang videos and extreme food challenges, including consuming exotic and unusual items such as live insects.[1][2]

Early life and career

Suan is from Barangay Daanlungsod in Alcoy, Cebu. He began uploading content on YouTube in October 2020 under the channel Boy Tapang Vlogs.[3] His early videos focused on mukbang-style eating challenges involving local and exotic foods, which helped him gain a large following on YouTube and Facebook.

By the mid-2020, his YouTube channel had amassed over 2.35 million subscribers and more than 160 million views.[4] He has also maintained more presence on Facebook, with reports citing millions of followers at the same time.[5]

In January 2023, Suan and his then-girlfriend, Filipino-American content creator LJ Satterfield (known as Girl Tapang), were featured on the television program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho. The segment, which covered their relationship, received more than 10 million views on Facebook within 24 hours.[6]

Controversies

In April 2024, Suan posted a video of himself constructing and flying a kite made from approximately ₱1 million in ₱1,000 banknotes.[7] The video drew criticism and prompted a visit from representatives of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).[8] Suan later deleted the video, issued a public apology, and stated that the money was used to purchase a sports car. The BSP did not pursue legal action after accepting his explanation.[9]

In 2025, Suan faced legal issues related to alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act). In April 2025, he was arrested in Alcoy following a complaint by his live-in partner and was released after posting bail. He denied the allegations of physical abuse, describing the incident as a couple’s argument that escalated. The partner later filed an affidavit of desistance, though the case proceeded through the legal process.[10][11]

In May 2025, Suan was arrested again in Cebu City on a warrant related to a VAWC case and was released after posting higher bail.

Suan has also publicly advised other content creators against promoting online casinos, stating that he had previously accepted such sponsorships and that related Facebook pages were later banned by Meta.[12][13]

Personal life

Suan has been in multiple publicized relationships that were featured in his content, including with LJ Satterfield in 2023 and later live-in partners. He has spoken about coming from a modest background and using content creation as a means of financial improvement.
