August Cole is an American author, journalist, and analyst specializing in national security, emerging technology, and the future of warfare.[1] A former defense industry reporter for The Wall Street Journal, he is best known as the co-author, with Peter W. Singer, of the techno-thrillers Ghost Fleet: A Novel of the Next World War (2015) and Burn-In: A Novel of the Real Robot Revolution (2020), and for his work developing the concept of "FICINT" (fiction intelligence) as a tool for exploring future conflict.[2]
