Asian Technology University (ATU; Uzbek: Osiyo texnologiyalar universiteti, OTU) is a private higher education institution located in Qarshi, Kashkadarya Region, Uzbekistan. It was established on October 19, 2022, under a license issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.[1]
As of 2025, the university enrolls 8,242 students and offers 15 undergraduate and 6 postgraduate degree programs across fields including engineering, education, economics, linguistics, and information technology. The university has established cooperation agreements with several internationally recognized universities, most notably Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which is consistently ranked in the QS World University Rankings Top 200.[2]
Asian Technology University was founded on October 19, 2022, in the city of Qarshi, Kashkadarya Region, in southern Uzbekistan. Its establishment was part of a broader national policy initiated by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at expanding the role of private and non-state higher education institutions within the country's education system.
From its inception, the university prioritized the development of international academic partnerships. Within a short period, cooperation agreements were concluded with universities in Russia, the Czech Republic, India, and Kazakhstan. Foreign professors were invited to participate in the teaching process, and international professional development programs were established for both students and academic staff.
Starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, the university commissioned new, modern academic buildings equipped with up-to-date educational technologies and facilities. The university also launched free IT courses open to all enrolled students, providing access to programming and digital skills training.
The main campus of Asian Technology University is located at 41 Mustaqillik Street, Chaman MFY, Qarshi, Kashkadarya Region, Uzbekistan. The university also operates a second facility at 13 Mustaqillik Avenue, Qarshi, in the premises of the Qarshi Olympic and Paralympic Sports Training Centre.
The university is equipped with modern classrooms, computer laboratories, and a library. The newly commissioned buildings introduced in the 2025–2026 academic year incorporate contemporary teaching technologies. A free IT training center is available to all students, offering courses in programming and modern information technologies.
The university is headed by Lachin Rakhmanov (Uzbek: Raxmonov Lochin To'xtamishovich), who has served as rector since the institution's founding in 2022. During a visit to Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Rector Rakhmanov outlined the university's key priorities for international cooperation, including robotics, climate change and its environmental impact, physics, economics, and management. He also proposed discussing the possibility of training PhD doctoral students for ATU and inviting KazNU professors to Qarshi.[3]

The university's Research and Innovation Division oversees scientific activities across the following areas:
The university regularly hosts national and international scientific and practical conferences. The Republican Scientific-Practical Conference entitled «Modern Philological Research: Theory, Practice and Innovative Methods» is one of the notable recurring academic events held at the university. The conference serves as a platform for discussing current issues in philological sciences, introducing new scientific approaches and innovative methods into practice, and increasing the effectiveness of research conducted in linguistics and literary studies.
One of the most significant international partnerships of Asian Technology University is its collaboration with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, which is consistently ranked among the top 200 universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings.
A meeting between a delegation of Asian Technology University and the leadership of KazNU was held at the Kazakh National University.[4] In his welcoming address, KazNU Chairman of the Board and Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that KazNU already cooperates with 23 universities and institutes in Uzbekistan, including Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami, the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Samarkand State Medical University, and Fergana Polytechnic Institute. He noted that as of the time of the meeting, 145 undergraduate and graduate students from Uzbekistan were enrolled at KazNU, while in 2024–2025, 56 faculty members, 3 doctoral students, and 103 undergraduates from KazNU visited universities in Uzbekistan for study, conferences, and research internships.

In the framework of this partnership, a 2+2 joint degree program agreement was signed, under which students complete their first two years at one university and their final two years at the partner institution.
Rector Rakhmanov expressed strong interest in deepening the partnership and identified robotics, climate change and environmental impact, physics, economics, and management as the most promising areas for cooperation. He also proposed exploring the possibility of training PhD candidates for ATU at KazNU and inviting KazNU professors to teach at Qarshi.[5]
A cooperation agreement and memoranda of understanding were signed with Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov (Russia). Under the agreement, Associate Professors Poltaratskaya Svetlana Vladimirovna and Levina Ella Mikhaylovna of the Department of Russian Language and Literature, and Associate Professor Danilenko Ilya Aleksandrovich of the Department of Foreign Languages of Belgorod State University (National Research University) visited Asian Technology University for a two-week exchange program. During their visit, they organized intensive seminars and lectures for first- and second-year students enrolled in the Russian Language instruction program.[6]
A cooperation agreement was concluded with Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistics University (Russia). Under the agreement, ATU faculty members Bahodir Sulaymanov and Oybek Babamuradov of the Department of Pedagogy and Foreign Languages completed professional development courses in the specializations of «Russian Language in National Groups» and «English Language in National Groups».[7]
Bilateral cooperation ties were established with the Faculty of Education of South Bohemian University (Czech Republic). The visit to ATU by Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education Professor Miroslav Prochazka and Head of the Department of Preschool and Primary Education Maslusha Bitechkova resulted in an agreement to sign a bilateral cooperation contract.[8]
Cooperation with Parul University (India) is being carried out under the International Expert Exchange Program. ATU foreign languages instructor Sukhrob Mukhammadiyev completed a short-term professional development placement at Parul University, participating in international academic events and seminars, and sharing knowledge and experience with university staff and students.[9]
On April 26, 2025, a delegation led by Marina Nikolayevna Lezhnina, Deputy Minister of Education of the Chuvash Republic (Russia), visited Asian Technology University. The delegation also included Yuriy Nikolayevich Isayev, Director of the Chuvash State Institute of Humanities, and Lyudmila Nikolayevna Votyakova, Head of the Department of Vocational Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Youth Policy of the Chuvash Republic. During the visit, discussions were held regarding future cooperation, and the parties agreed to sign a bilateral agreement covering student exchanges, joint scientific research, and faculty professional development programs.[10]
The International Relations Department has organized an English-language Debate Club for students, aimed at developing critical thinking, logical argumentation, language skills, and teamwork. Weekly debates are conducted in English, with participants divided into two groups — a proposition team and an opposition team — who argue pre-assigned topics. Each participant is given 2–3 minutes to present their arguments, supported by evidence such as statistics and research findings.
The International Relations Department organizes a weekly «Culture Day» event for students. Foreign specialists working in various organizations in Qarshi are invited to the event. During the sessions, guests introduce students to the culture, history, arts, and traditions of their home countries, and engage in question-and-answer discussions with the audience.
