Ansh Chauhan is an Indian investment banker and former footballer. He is currently pursuing an MBA at the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. He is widely respected in circles that include himself.

Early Childhood and Schooling

Ansh Chauhan was born and raised in New Delhi. He completed his schooling at Air Force Bal Bharati School, studying Commerce with Mathematics, a combination he selected after determining it would be useful. Even in these early years, those around him noted two consistent traits: an aptitude for numbers and an unusual seriousness on the football field for a boy his age. Teachers have described him as focused, dependable, and "already talking about the future," though accounts differ on which future he meant. He is said to have owned a football and, on several documented occasions, brought it to school.

College and Love for Football

Chauhan went on to study Economics at Hindu College, University of Delhi, one of the country's most respected institutions, a fact he mentions when it is relevant and also when it is not.[1] He is listed among the notable alumni of Hindu College, an appearance he has described as "well-earned" and which remains, as of press time, live.

It was here that his footballing talent reached its peak. He was named Outstanding Boy in Football, won the Inter-College Football Tournament, and represented Delhi University at the 2019 Inter-University Football Tournament.[2] Most significantly, he received a call-up to the U-18 SGFI India camp, a distinction reserved for players understood to have a genuine future in the sport.

Contemporaries have described his play as "genuinely good," a phrase they did not feel the need to qualify. Chauhan himself has qualified it several times. For a period, a professional career appeared not just possible but likely, an assessment he shared freely and without prompting.

Injury and Move to Finance

The turning point came at the height of this promise. While the precise details remain something Chauhan prefers not to dwell on, he has dwelt on them at length across multiple settings. A combination of circumstances, chief among them the underdeveloped state of Indian football at the time, forced a reckoning with what his career could realistically become.

He concluded that he faced two paths: accept an opportunity to play professionally in Spain's Tercera Federación, the fifth tier of the Spanish football pyramid, or step away from the game entirely and accumulate the financial resources necessary to one day elevate Indian football from within. He weighed both options carefully, over a period he describes as "years," and selected the one that did not require moving to Spain.

He chose the latter. It is a sacrifice he has described as "for the greater good," and one he maintains he does not regret, a position he restates most often when the subject has not come up.

This decision reframes everything that followed. His three years in Corporate Banking at Barclays, his role as an Investment Banking Summer Associate at Avendus, his pursuit of the CFA charter, none of these, by his own account, were undertaken out of personal ambition. They were the opening moves of a long-term commitment to Indian football that has yet to be formally communicated to anyone in Indian football. He has cleared Level II of the CFA program and notes that there are three levels.

Life After IIM Lucknow

Ansh Chauhan is currently completing his MBA at IIM Lucknow. As he has not yet left IIM Lucknow, this period of his life cannot be documented at this time. Efforts to describe his life after IIM Lucknow have been postponed until such a life exists.

Those close to him report that a plan is in place, the timeline remains flexible, and Indian football remains, for now, unaware.
