Damla Mohibullah Mawafiq (Pashto: داملا محب اللہ موافق) (Born circa 1997[1]) is an Afghan Taliban politician and military figure who is currently serving as Mayor of Maymana, the capital of Faryab Province since November 2021.[2][3] Mohibullah is known as one of the top snipers in the Taliban ranks.[4]
Biography
Mohibullah was reportedly born or grew up in Maymana,[4][5][6] in 1997[1] (possibly 1996[a]). Purportedly of Uzbek origin,[1][5][8] he was born to a rich family of traders[1][6][7] (sometimes listed as "businessmen[5]") and did remarkably well in his education[5][1] and at sports.[5]
He had early aspirations of becoming a medical professional,[5] but at age 19 joined the Taliban[5][1] and rose from a soldier[5] to become commander of a small band of forces which had been deployed to Faryab Province.[1][6] He is regarded as one of the Taliban's best snipers.[4][6] He also was reportedly "in charge" of a village by the name of Doraye Khoija Qoshre.[5] Afterwards, he became mayor of Maymana in November 2021.[2][3][7]
