The Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas operates St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, a K-8 school in the area. It has separate facilities for grades Pre-Kindergarten through 2 (lower school) and grades 3-8 (upper school):[7] the upper school is in Wilshire Heights,[8] while the lower school is in Caruth Terrace.[2] St. Thomas Aquinas opened as Sacred Heart School #2 in 1947. The Monsignor John T. Gulczynski Early Childhood Center, previously the First Community Church, was acquired by St. Thomas Aquinas in 2005. As of 2020[update] the lower school has 351 students.[7] Aquinas is a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School.[9]
