Boršt (pronounced [ˈbɔɾʃt] ; German : Forst [ 2] ) is a small village on the left bank of the Krka River in the Municipality of Brežice in eastern Slovenia . The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola . It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Lower Sava Statistical Region .[ 3]
Name
The name Boršt is a relatively frequent name for settlements, regions, and hills in Slovenia. It is derived from the common noun boršt 'woods, forest', borrowed from Middle High German for(e)st 'woods, forest'.[ 4] Boršt was attested in written sources as Vorst in 1343.[ 5]
