Air India Limited is an Indian aviationholding company notably consisting of Air India and Air India Express headquartered in Gurugram, India. Its ownership is divided between Tata Group (74.9%) and Singapore Airlines (25.1%). On the anniversary of the airline's founder J. R. D. Tata's birth, its new headquarters at Vatika One On One in Gurugram[4] was inaugurated. The new headquarters space will be home to all TATA Group airlines. It was headquartered at the Airlines House in New Delhi[5] prior to TATA group takeover.
Air India Limited was privatized through its sale to the Tata Group. On 8 October 2021 Tata Sons paid ₹180 billion (US$2.2 billion) to Government of India and Tata will also assume ₹153 billion (US$1.8 billion) of Air India Limited's debt as per the transfer deal.[8][9] The remaining ₹462.62 billion (US$5.5 billion) of Air India Limited's debt was also transferred to AlAHL. Alliance air[10][11]
The Tata Group requested approval from the CCI to merge AirAsia India and Vistara with Air India Limited in April 2022,[12] which was granted on 14 June 2022.[13]

On 15 April 2022, Alliance Air was no longer a subsidiary of Air India Limited. Alliance Air is now the only airline under the control of the Government of India.[14]
