Malaysian politician
Datuk Abdul Rahman Bakri (born 10 November 1965) is a Malaysian politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sabak Bernam from March 2008 to his imprisonment in October 2012 as well as Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sungai Air Tawar from March 2004 to March 2008. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.[1][2][3]
Controversy
In November 2009, Abdul Rahman was charged with eight counts of misappropriating public funds while a member of the Selangor State Assembly. He pleaded not guilty to the charges,[4] but in March 2012 was convicted and sentenced to six years imprisonment.[5] His conviction was upheld on appeal.[6] His parliamentary career ended with his conviction and imprisonment on corruption charge.
