77th Venice International Film Festival
Film festival
A barrier built in compliance with the safety directions to enforce social distancing blocks the main red carpet during the Festival The 77th annual Venice International Film Festival was held from 2 to 12 September 2020,[ 5] COVID-19 pandemic .[ 6] [ 7]
Australian actress Cate Blanchett was Jury President of the main competition.[ 8] The Ties Daniele Luchetti , was the opening film, the first Italian film after 11 years to open the festival.[ 9]
The Golden Lion was awarded to Nomadland Chloé Zhao . The Grand Jury Prize was awarded to the Michel Franco 's New Order Volpi Cup for Best Actor was won by Pierfrancesco Favino for Padrenostro Volpi Cup for Best Actress was won by Vanessa Kirby for Pieces of a Woman Silver Lion for Best Direction was awarded to Kiyoshi Kurosawa for the movie Wife of a Spy [ 10]
