American college basketball season
The 2002–03 Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball team represented the University of Pittsburgh in the 2002–03 NCAA Division I men's basketball season . This was Pitt's first season playing in the Petersen Events Center . Led by head coach Ben Howland, the Panthers finished with a record of 28–5[ 2] and battled their way to the Sweet Sixteen of the 2003 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament . Following the season, Coach Howland left to become head coach of UCLA .[ 3]
