Οι Μύλοι είναι ορεινό χωριό της Ηπείρου στην Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Ιωαννίνων[2], το οποίο βρίσκεται βόρεια από τον Μετσοβίτικο ποταμό και είναι κτισμένο στους νότιους πρόποδες της βόρειας Πίνδου σε υψόμετρο 930 μέτρα[3]. Απέχει 44 χλμ. ΒΑ. (οδικά - μέσω Εγνατίας) από την πόλη των Ιωαννίνων (μέσω Εγνατίας), 17 χλμ. Δ.-ΝΔ. από το Μέτσοβο (έδρα του δήμου) και 6 χλμ. (οδικά) Α. από τη Χρυσοβίτσα, της οποίας από παλιά θεωρείται συνοικισμός. Αναφέρεται επίσημα ως ξεχωριστός οικισμός με την παλιά του ονομασία Λιάταινα για πρώτη φορά το 1961 να απογράφεται στην κοινότητα Χρυσοβίτσης. Το 1963 με το ΦΕΚ 91Α - 13/06/1963 μετονομάστηκε σε Μύλοι.[4] Σύμφωνα με το σχέδιο Καλλικράτης, μαζί με την Χρυσοβίτσα, τα Αμπέλια, την Ανάληψη, το Ξηρικό και τους Σιωλάδες αποτελούν την τοπική κοινότητα Χρυσοβίτσας της δημοτικής ενότητας Εγνατίας που υπάγεται στο δήμο Μετσόβου και σύμφωνα με την απογραφή 2011 απογράφονται 215 κάτοικοι.[5]
