Ο Θανάσης Τζήμητρας (1898 - 1976) γεννήθηκε στην Αρκαδιούπολη (Λουλέμπουργκαζ) της Ανατολικής Θράκης το 1898. Σπούδασε νομικά και άσκησε στη Θεσσαλονίκη το επάγγελμα του δικηγόρου. Το έτος 1929 εξέδωσε μία σειρά διηγημάτων (ηθογραφιών) με τίτλο «Θρακικά διηγήματα» τα οποία είχε δημοσιεύσει παλαιότερα σε λογοτεχνικά περιοδικά της Θεσσαλονίκης (επανεκδόθηκαν το 1961 με την προσθήκη ενός επιπλέον διηγήματος). Πρωτοστάτησε με άλλους επιφανείς Θρακιώτες στην ίδρυση της Θρακικής Εστίας Θεσσαλονίκης. Συμμετείχε ενεργά στην πνευματική ζωή της πόλης, μέχρι το θάνατό του το Φεβρουάριο του 1976.
