Εθνόσημο της Ουγγαρίας

Το σύγχρονο εθνόσημο της Ουγγαρίας καθιερώθηκε τον Ιούλιο του 1990, έπειτα από την πτώση του κομμουνισμού στη χώρα. Αν και η Ουγγαρία είναι δημοκρατία, ο θυρεός περιβάλλεται από το στέμμα του Βασιλέα Στεφάνου του Αγίου.

Το εθνόσημο ήταν σε χρήση και πρώτα, χωρίς και με το βασιλικό στέμμα του Αγίου Στεφάνου. Πολλά από τα στοιχεία του θυρεού ανάγουν χρονικά στο Μεσαίωνα.

Οι ασημένιες γραμμές αντιπροσωπεύουν, όπως υποστηρίζεται συνήθως, τους 4 ποταμούς (Δούναβη, Ντράβα, Τίσα και Σάβα) και οι λόφοι συμβολίζουν τις τρεις βουνοκορφές (Μάτρα, Τάτρα και Φάτρα). Ωστόσο, η θεωρία αυτή δεν είναι ιστορικά αποδεδειγμένη.

Το εθνόσημο επίσης έχει το διπλό πατριαρχικό σταυρό στη δεξιά πλευρά, όπως και το Εθνόσημο της Σλοβακίας.
