Η Λάσα ντε Σέλα (Lhasa de Sela, 27 Σεπτεμβρίου 1972 – 1 Ιανουαρίου 2010), επίσημα γνωστή ως Λάσα, ήταν Αμερικανίδα τραγουδίστρια και τραγουδοποιός Πέθανε 31 Δεκεμβρίου 2009 (37 ετών)

Βιογραφία

Γεννήθηκε στο Big Indian της Νέας Υόρκης από Μεξικάνο πατέρα και Αμερικανίδα μητέρα. Ξεκίνησε τραγουδώντας σε ελληνική καφετέρια στο Σαν Φρανσίσκο, όταν ήταν 13 ετών. Σε ηλικία 19 ετών εγκαταστάθηκε στο Μόντρεαλ του Κεμπέκ, ενώ το πρώτο της άλμπουμ, με τίτλο La Llorona, το 1997. Για την πρώτη της δισκογραφική δουλειά της κέρδισε Βραβείο Φελίξ για τον καλύτερο καλλιτέχνη από το Κεμπέκ, στο χώρο της παγκόσμιας μουσικής ("Artiste québécois — musique du monde") το 1997 και ένα καναδικό βραβείο Τζούνο για τον καλύτερο διεθνή καλλιτέχνη 1998.

Έπειτα από περιοδείες σε Ευρώπη και Αμερική εγκατέλειψε το τραγούδι και ασχολήθηκε με το τσίρκο Pocheros. Τελικά πήγε στη Μασσαλία και άρχισε να γράφει τραγούδια. Έπειτα ηχογράφησε το δεύτερό της άλμπουμ, με τίτλο The Living Road, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε το 2003. Το τρίτο της άλμπουμ με τίτλο Lhasa κυκλοφόρησε τον Απρίλιο του 2009 στον Καναδά και στην Ευρώπη.[10]

Σε ηλικία μόλις 37 ετών απεβίωσε έπειτα από δίχρονη αντιμετώπιση καρκίνου του μαστού, την Πρωτοχρονιά του 2010, στην οικία της στο Μόντρεαλ.[11]
