Κάμερες παρακολούθησης

Κλειστό κύκλωμα τηλεόρασης (CCTV - Closed-circuit television) ονομάζεται το σύστημα μετάδοσης σήματος σε περιορισμένο σύνολο δεκτών. Διαφέρει από το τηλεοπτικό σήμα καθώς δεν μεταδίδεται ανοικτά, αν και χρησιμοποιεί πλέγμα ενσύρματων ή ασύρματων συνδέσεων. Ο όρος χρησιμοποιείται συχνότερα στο σύστημα συνεχούς παρακολούθησης για λόγους ασφαλείας.

Η παρακολούθηση δημοσίων αλλά και ιδιωτικών χώρων είναι διαδεδομένη και στην Ελλάδα επιτρεπόταν βάσει του νόμου 2472/1997[1] που τροποποιήθηκε με τον Ν.4624/2019[2] περί δικαιωμάτων προσωπικού χαρακτήρα. Η παρακολούθηση έχει προκαλέσει ζητήματα ιδιωτικότητας.[3][4][5]

Εξελιγμένα συστήματα παρακολούθησης, χρησιμοποιούν ψηφιακές συσκευές εγγραφής βίντεο (DVR), παρέχοντας εγγραφή και αποθήκευση για πολλά χρόνια, με ποικιλία επιλογών ποιότητας και απόδοσης και επιπλέον δυνατότητες (όπως ανίχνευση κίνησης και ειδοποιήσεις μέσω email). Πιο πρόσφατα, αποκεντρωμένες κάμερες IP, εξοπλισμένες με αισθητήρες megapixel, υποστηρίζουν εγγραφή απευθείας σε συσκευές αποθήκευσης συνδεδεμένες στο δίκτυο με εντελώς αυτόνομη λειτουργία.

Σύμφωνα με μια εκτίμηση, θα χρησιμοποιούνται περίπου 1 δισεκατομμύριο κάμερες παρακολούθησης παγκοσμίως έως το 2021.[6] Περίπου το 65% αυτών των καμερών είναι εγκατεστημένες στην Ασία.
