To εθνόσημο των Νήσων Αγίου Πέτρου και Μιχαήλ είναι παρόμοιο με την ανεπίσημη σημαία του και γράφει το ρητό «A mare labor» στα λατινικά (αναφέρεται στην εργασία και στη θάλασσα). Ο θυρεός σχεδιάστηκε από το Λεόν Ζονέρ πριν από τη σημαία. Το κύριο μέρος του θυρεού είναι μπλε με ένα κίτρινο καράβι. Αυτό το πλοίο φέρεται να συμβολίζει το Grande Hermine, το οποίο έφερε το Ζακ Καρτιέ στον Άγιο Πέτρο στις 15 Ιουνίου 1536. Τρεις τετράγωνες σημαίες τοποθετημένες κατά μήκος της κορυφής θυμίζουν την καταγωγή των περισσότερων κατοίκων των νησιών, από αριστερά προς τα δεξιά: Βάσκοι, Βρετόνοι και Νορμανδοί.
