Ο Γιάννης Παπαϊωάννου του Ανδρέου (Καβάλα 6 Ιανουαρίου 1910 - Αθήνα 19 Μαΐου 1989) υπήρξε σημαντικός Έλληνας συνθέτης συμφωνικής μουσικής.

Σύντομο βιογραφικό

Γεννήθηκε στην Καβάλα. Σε πρώτη επαφή με τη μουσική ήρθε σε ηλικία 6 ετών όταν ξεκίνησε να μελετά από μόνος του πιάνο. Στη συνέχεια σπούδασε στο Ελληνικό Ωδείο με Καθηγητή τον Αιμίλιο Ριάδη και μόλις αποφοίτησε από κει εγκαταστάθηκε στο Παρίσι όπου εργάστηκε κοντά στον Άρτουρ Χόνεγκερ. Το 1949 η UNESCO του έδωσε μια υποτροφία χάρη στην οποία επισκέφθηκε τα μεγαλύτερα μουσικά κέντρα της Ευρώπης και μπόρεσε να παρακολουθήσει τις μουσικές τάσεις της εποχής. Το 1932 ξεκίνησε ν' ασχολείται συστηματικά με τη μουσική.
