Η Αγίου Μελετίου είναι συνοικία η οποία γειτονεύει με τις συνοικίες Άγιος Νικόλαος, Πλατεία Αμερικής, Κυψέλη, Πλατεία Βικτωρίας, Άγιος Παντελεήμονας και Αττική. Κύριοι οδικοί άξονές της είναι η οδός Αχαρνών και η οδός Αγίου Μελετίου. Η συνοικία Αγίου Μελετίου αντιστοιχεί, όπως προκύπτει από όσα αναφέρει ο Κώστας Μπίρης, στην περιοχή που παλιότερα αποκαλούνταν Λεβίδου ή Λεβίδη από την ερημική, τότε, οικογενειακή έπαυλη του Νικολάου Λεβίδη, που υπήρχε στις αρχές περίπου του 20ού αιώνα, επί της οδού Πατησίων.[1] Κατά τον Μεσοπόλεμο, η σημερινή συνοικία Αγίου Μελετίου ήταν διαμοιρασμένη κυρίως μεταξύ των συνοικιών της Αττικής (που ήταν ευρύτερη από τη σημερινή) και της Αχαρνών.[2] (σχετίζεται με τον σημερινό Άγ. Νικόλαο).

Όρια συνοικίας

Τα όριά της είναι η πλευρά με τους ζυγούς αριθμούς της οδού Ιθάκης στο κομμάτι απ' την οδό Πατησίων μέχρι την οδό Αχαρνών και στο κομμάτι μεταξύ της οδού Αχαρνών και της οδού Μιχαήλ Βόδα η ίδια πλευρά της οδού Περγάμου (προέκταση της οδού Ιθάκης), η πλευρά με τους μονούς αριθμούς της οδού Θήρας από την Πατησίων μέχρι τη Μιχαήλ Βόδα, η πλευρά με τους μονούς αριθμούς της οδού Πατησίων στο κομμάτι μεταξύ των οδών Ιθάκης και Θήρας και η πλευρά με τους ζυγούς αριθμούς της οδού Μιχαήλ Βόδα στο κομμάτι μεταξύ των οδών Περγάμου και Θήρας. Την ονομασία της την οφείλει στην ομώνυμη οδό η οποία ξεκινά απ' την Κυψέλη και καταλήγει στα Σεπόλια. Εξυπηρετείται από πολλές γραμμές λεωφορείων και τρόλεϊ και από το σταθμό Αττική του μετρό.
