Der Kreis Zamtang (auch Dzamthang; tibetisch འཛམ་ཐང Wylie ’dzam thang་; chinesisch 壤塘县, Pinyin Rǎngtáng Xiàn) liegt im Verwaltungsgebiet des Autonomen Bezirks Ngawa der Tibeter und Qiang im Norden der chinesischen Provinz Sichuan, Volksrepublik China. Er hat eine Fläche von 6.637 Quadratkilometern und zählt 44.679 Einwohner (Stand: Zensus 2020).[1] Sein Hauptort ist die Großgemeinde Zamkog (壤柯镇).

Auf Gemeindeebene setzt sich der Kreis aus drei Großgemeinden und neun Gemeinden zusammen. Diese sind:[2]

Religion

Der Kreis Zamtang ist das wichtigste Refugium der Jonangpa, eines tibetisch-buddhistischen Ordens, der in anderen Teilen Tibets erloschen ist (Ausnahme: die in Amdo unmittelbar an Zamtang angrenzenden Gebiete).

Chörten in Zamtangs Kloster Bangtuo Si

Das Bangtuo-Kloster (Bangtuo si 棒托寺), das Cuo'erji-Kloster (Cuo'erji si 措尔机寺; tibet. Chöje Gompa) und die neungeschossige Diaofang-Häuseranlage[3] Risimanba diaofang (日斯满巴碉房) stehen seit 2001 bzw. 2006 auf der Liste der Denkmäler der Volksrepublik China.
