Die mit Abstand größte Agglomeration in Eritrea ist Asmara mit einer Einwohnerzahl von 1.034.575 (Stand 1. Januar 2005). Damit konzentrieren sich ein Viertel der Bevölkerung des Landes in der Hauptstadtregion.
