Ilja Michailowitsch Oschanin (russisch Илья́ Миха́йлович Оша́нин; geboren am 22. Apriljul. / 5. Mai 1900greg. in Jaroslawl; gestorben am 5. September 1982 in Moskau) war ein russischer und sowjetischer Sprachwissenschaftler und Sinologe.

Biografie

Oschanin schloss 1924 ein Studium am Institut für Orientalistik in Moskau ab. Von 1924 bis 1926 arbeitete er als Übersetzer und Dolmetscher in China. In den 1930er bis 1950er Jahren unterrichtete er an Hochschulen in Moskau. Seit 1945 war er dort am Institut für Orientalistik tätig, ab 1956 als Leiter der Abteilung für orientalische Wörterbücher.

Bedeutung

Oschanin befasste sich vor allem mit Lexikografie, er ist der Autor zweier bedeutender chinesisch-russischer Wörterbücher.

Unter der Leitung von Oschanin entstand im Laufe vieler Jahre das Große chinesisch-russische Wörterbuch (Большой китайско-русский словарь, 1983–1984) in vier Bänden, das damals mit rund 250.000 Einträgen bis zum Erscheinen des Grand Ricci im Jahr 2001 das größte zweisprachige chinesische Wörterbuch der Welt war.

Oschanin verfasste aber auch Arbeiten zur chinesischen Grammatik sowie Lehrbücher der chinesischen Sprache.
