Gebrüder Schlegel

Als Gebrüder Schlegel werden in der Literatur die beiden deutschen Literaturhistoriker, Philosophen, Publizisten und Übersetzer August Wilhelm Schlegel (1767–1845) und Friedrich Schlegel (1772–1829) bezeichnet. Beide gelten zusammen mit ihren Frauen Caroline Schelling und Dorothea Schlegel als Mitbegründer der Frühromantik. Die Gebrüder Schlegel gaben zusammen die Literaturzeitschrift Athenaeum, in der sie sich von 1798 bis 1800 mit romantischer Literatur befassten, heraus.
