Charity Cup

Der Charity Cup war ein über das Internet veranstaltetes Schnellschachturnier, das vom 19. bis 26. März 2022 stattfand. Es war das zweite Turnier der Champions Chess Tour 2022 und wurde den Opfern des Krieges in der Ukraine gewidmet. Die Play Magnus Group hatte beschlossen, mit diesem Turnier Geld für den UNICEF-Kriegshilfsfonds zu sammeln.

Übertragung

Das Turnier wurde im Internet unter anderem kostenlos auf Chess24.com übertragen und in mehreren Sprachen kommentiert.

Modus

Für das Turnier war ein Preisgeld von 150.000 US-Dollar ausgelobt, wobei die Spieler ermutigt wurden, einen Teil ihres Gewinns zu spenden.

Teilnehmer

Zum ersten Mal hatte es bei der Meltwater Champions Chess Tour aufgrund der aktuellen Situation in der Ukraine keine russischen Spieler geben.
