Betty Jo „BJ“ Casey (* in Kinston, North Carolina) ist eine US-amerikanische Neurowissenschaftlerin.

Casey ist seit 2022 Christina L. Williams Professor of Neuroscience an der Columbia University. Sie leitet das dortige Fundamentals of the Adolescent Brain (FAB) Lab.

Sie studierte Psychologie an der Appalachian State University und wurde 1990 an der University of South Carolina promoviert. Während ihres Postdoc-Aufenthalts forschte sie am National Institute of Mental Health. Anschließend war sie Assistenzprofessorin beim mit der University of Pittsburgh verbundenen Krankenhauskonzern University of Pittsburgh Medical Center sowie Gastforscherin an der Princeton University. Michael Posner gewann Casey als Direktorin des Sackler Institute for Developmental Psychobiology am Weill Cornell Medicine. Zugleich war sie Associate Professor am Weill Cornell Medicine sowie Gastforscherin an der Rockefeller University. 2016 wechselte sie an die Yale University, wo sie Professorin wurde.

BJ Caseys Forschungsgebiet ist die Gehirnentwicklung.
