Un o brif ranbarthau daearyddol De America yw'r Gran Chaco. Daw'r gair o'r iaith Quechua chaku: "tir hela". Saif y Gran Chaco rhwng afonydd Paragwái a Paraná a'r Altiplano yn yr Andes. Rhennir yr ardal rhwng yr Ariannin, Bolifia, Brasil a Pharagwái.
Gwastadtir eang yw'r ardal. Y gwahaniaeth rhwng y Gran Chaco a'r paith yw fod nifer sylweddol o goed yn y Gran Chaco. Fe'i rhennir yn dri rhan:
- Chaco Boreal, yn y gogledd.
- Chaco Central, rhwng Afon Pilcomayo a hen gwrs Afon Bermejo.
- Chaco Austral, yn y de, o Afon Bermejo hyd at gymmer Afon Salado ag Afon Paraná.
