Roedd Ffrederic I, llysenw Barbarossa ("barfgoch") (1122 – 10 Mehefin 1190) yn aelod o dylwyth yr Hohenstaufen, ac o 1155 hyd ei farwolaeth roedd yn Ymerawdwr Glân Rhufeinig.

Etifeddodd dywysogaeth Swabia fel Ffrederic III, ac ar 9 Mawrth 1152 coronwyd ef yn frenin yr Almaen yn Frankfurt. Ar 18 Mehefin 1155 yn Rhufain, coronodd Pab Adrian IV ef yn Ymerawdwr Glân Rhufeinig yn Rhufain. Yn 1156 priododd Beatrix I o Fwrgwyn, a thrwy'r briodas yma daeth Bwrgwyn yn eiddo iddo yn 1178.

Gwrthwynebwyd ef gan ddinasoedd gogledd yr Eidal, a ffurfiodd Gynghrair Lombardi yn ei erbyn. Llwyddasant i'w orchfygu ym mrwydr Legnano yn 1176. Yn 1183, daethant i gytundeb, gyda'r finasoedd yn cydnabod Ffrederic fel ymerawdwr. Yng nghanolbarth yr Eidal, daeth i wrthdrawiad a'r Pab. Yn ne'r Eidal, priododd ei fab, Henri VI, a merch brenin Sicilia, a llwyddasant i gipio Sicilia oddi wrth y Normaniaid.

Roedd Ffrederic yn un o brif arweinwyr y Drydedd Groesgad, ond bu farw ar 10 Mehefin 1190 wrth groesi afon yn Anatolia, tra'n arwain ei fyddin tua'r Tir Sanctaidd. Datblygodd chwedl ar thema'r Brenin yn y mynydd amdano yn yr Almaen. Yn ôl y chwedl, mae Ffrederic yn cysgu mewn ogof dan fynydd y Kyffhäuser. Pan mae'n deffro, mae'n gyrru bachgen i weld a yw'r cigfrain yn dal i hedfan o gylch y mynydd; pan ddiflanna'r cigfrain, bydd yn bryd i Ffrederic godi o'i gwsg.

Enwyd Cyrch Barbarossa, sef ymosodiad yr Almaen ar yr Undeb Sofietaidd yn ystod yr Ail Ryfel Byd, ar ôl Ffrederic.
