Mae'r corona (hefyd corongylch) i'w ddarganfod yn haen uchaf atmosffer yr Haul uwchben y cromosffer gyda chylchfa ryngbarthol gul yn eu gwahanu. Mae iddi dymheredd o tua miliwn K neu fwy, a dwysedd isel. Plasma sy'n ehangu i'r gofod yn barhaus yw'r corona a gellir ystyried felly ei fod yn ymestyn trwy'r heliosffer.
Mae'r corona isaf yn weledwy i'r llygad noeth fel 'coron' wen yn ystod diffyg ar yr Haul ac o'r gair 'coron' y daw'r enw. Ceir coronâu o amgylch sêr eraill hefyd.[1]
