Gwlad yn ne-orllewin Asia Leiaf yn oes yr hen Roegiaid oedd Caria. Cafodd ei lleoli i'r de o Ïonia, i orllewin Phrygia Fwyaf a Lycia, ac i'r gogledd a'r dwyrain o'r Môr Icaraidd. Cafodd ei galw ynghynt yn Phoenicia, am fod trefedigaeth Ffeniciaidd wedi ymsefydlu yno. Wedi hynny, derbyniodd yr enw Caria, oddi wrth y Brenin Car, a ddyfeisiodd y gelfyddyd o adargoel. Ei phrifddinas oedd Halicarnassus, man geni Herodotus a lleoliad Beddrod Halicarnassus, un o Saith Rhyfeddod yr Henfyd. Y prif dduw oedd Iau. Aeth yr Apostol Paul heibio'r dref Cnidus yng Ngharia ar ei fordaith i Rufain.
