Laticilla és un gènere d'ocells de la família dels pel·lorneids (Pellorneidae). Els membres del gènere es troben al Pakistan, Nepal, Índia i Bangladesh.[1] Les espècies d'aquest gènere reben el nom de matinera cuallarga.[2]

Taxonomia i etimologia

El gènere Laticilla va ser descrit per primer cop l'any 1845 pel zoòleg anglès Edward Blyth amb Eurycercus burnesii com a espècie tipus.[3]

Un estudi filogenètic molecular dels Cisticolidae publicat el 2013 va trobar que la matinera cuallarga fosca (L. burnesii) no es trobava dins del clade que contenia els altres cisticòlids, sinó que pertanyia als Pellorneidae.[4] Per crear gèneres monofilètics, aquesta matinera cuallarga i la pàl·lida, estretament relacionades, es van col·locar al gènere reintroduït Laticilla dins dels Pellorneidae.[5] El gènere va substituir Eurycercus que Blyth havia introduït el 1844, només per descobrir posteriorment que el nom ja estava ocupat.[6][7]

Segons la classificació del Congrés Ornitològic Internacional (versió 15.1, 2025) aquest gènere està format per dues espècies:[5]

El nom Laticilla prové del llatí «latus» que significa “ample” i «cilla», “cua”.[8]
