Geotrygon és un gènere d'ocells de la família dels colúmbids (Columbidae) que inclou diverses espècies de coloms guatlla distribuïdes pel Carib, Amèrica Central i nord d'Amèrica del Sud.[1]

Taxonomia

El gènere Geotrygon va ser introduït el 1847 pel naturalista anglès Philip Henry Gosse.[2] El nom combina el grec antic «geo» que significa “terra” i «trygōn» que significa “tórtora”.[3] El colom guatlla versicolor (Geotrygon versicolor) va ser designat posteriorment l'espècie tipus.[4]

L'antic Geotrygon era parafilètic. La classificació següent, incloent Leptotrygon i Zentrygon, segueix Johnson & Weckstein (2011);[5] Banks et al. (2013);[6] NACC 2014-C-3;[7] SACC 640.[8]

Segons la Classificació del Congrés Ornitològic Internacional (versió 14.2, 2024) aquest gènere està format per 9 espècies:[9]

Leptotrygon – Colom guatlla de Veraguas





Zenaida – 7 espècies



Zentrygon – 8 espècies
