Sloboda govora

Sloboda govora ili sloboda izražavanja je pravo izražavanja vlastitih stajališta i razmišljnja bez straha od represije i kazne.

Opšte je mišljenje da je sloboda govora nepohodna za postojanje demokratske vlasti. U zemljama u kojima ne postoji sloboda govora ljudi se boje reći ono što misle.

Kad nema slobode govora, vlast se ne brine se o željama i potrebama onih kojima vladaju. To se smatra razlogom što neke vlasti ne dozvoljavaju slobodu govora, jer ne žele snositi posljedice preuzimanja odgovornosti ili se boje pokretanja revolucije do koje bi došlo ukoliko bi svi mogli znati što se događa u društvu.

Zajednica u kojoj postoji sloboda govora dozvoljava da sve smije biti izrečeno.
