১৯৯৬-এর শেয়ারবাজার কেলেংকারী বাংলাদেশের একটি চাঞ্চল্যকর ঘটনা, যার মাধ্যমে বিভিন্ন ধরনের কারসাজির দ্বারা শেয়ারের দাম বাড়ার পরবর্তীতে বাজারের পতন শুরু হয়[১] এবং এর ফলশ্রুতিতে দেশের পূজিবাজারে আস্থার সঙ্কট সৃষ্টি হয় ও সাধারণ বিনিয়োগকারীরা ক্ষতি্রস্থ হয়।[২] ১৯৯৬ সালের এই ঘটনায় পুঁজিবাজার নিয়ন্ত্রক সংস্থা বাংলাদেশ সিকিউরিটিজ অ্যান্ড এক্সচেঞ্জ কমিশনের (বিএসইসি) পক্ষ থেকে মোট ১৫টি মামলা দায়ের করা হয়েছিল।[১][৩]

ঘটনার বিবরণ

১৯৯৬ সালে বিভিন্ন ধরনের কারসাজির মাধ্যমে শেয়ারের দাম বাড়ানো হয়[১][৩] এবং এর ফলেশ্রুতিতে ডিএসইর সূচক বাড়তে থাকে। একপর্যায়ে ওই বছরেরই ৫ নভেম্বর ডিএসইর সূচক সর্বোচ্চ ৩ হাজার ৬৪৯ পয়েন্টে উঠে যায় ও পরবর্তীতে তার পতন শুরু হয়ে কমতে কমতে সূচকটি ৪৬২ পয়েন্টে নেমে আসে।[১]
