সিকান্দর খান গাজী (আরবি: سکندر خان غازی) ছিলেন সোনারগাঁও ও লখনৌতির সুলতানিয়ার অধীনে সিলেটের প্রথম উজির।[১] এর আগে তিনি শাহ জালাল এর সাথে ১৩০৩ সালে শ্রীহট্টর বিজয়তে অংশ নিয়েছিলেন।[২] প্রাথমিকভাবে ফার্সী পান্ডুলিপি এবং শাহ জালাল সম্পর্কিত শিলালিপিতে সিকান্দর খান গাজীর নামও যুদ্ধের সেনাপতি হিসাবে তুলে ধরেছিল।[৩]

পটভূমি

সিকান্দর খান গাজীর মামা ছিলেন লখনৌতির সুলতান শামসুদ্দিন ফিরোজ শাহ।[৪] তিনি তুরুক-ফার্সী ঐতিহ্য অনুসরণ করতেন এবং বরাবর বাংলায় প্রবেশ করেছিলেন।

মৃত্যু

সিকান্দর খান গাজী বদরপুরের সুরমা, বরাক এবং কুশিয়ারা নদীর সংযোগস্থলে মাছ ধরার জন্য সফর করার সময় নৌকায় ডুবে যান এবং তাঁর লাশ কখনও পাওয়া যায়নি।[৫] এ কারণে তাকে ইসলামে একজন শহীদ হিসাবে অখ্যা দেয়া হয়েছে।[৬] তার বাদে শাহ জালাল নিজে হায়দর গাজীর নিয়োগ করেছিলেন শ্রীহট্টের দ্বিতীয় উজির হিসাবে।[৭] এটি ধারণা করা হয় যে খানের মৃত্যু ১৩৪৬ সালের আগে হয়েছিল যা শাহ জালালের মৃত্যুর বছর ছিল।[১] শাহ জালালের জীবনী, তারিক-ই-জালালির একটি কবিতা পাওয়া গেছে যাতে ঘটনার উল্লেখ রয়েছে।
