বাবিবা ঘাঁটি বঙ্গবন্ধু বাংলাদেশের ঢাকার কুর্মিটোলায় অবস্থিত বাংলাদেশ বিমান বাহিনীর নয়টি ঘাঁটির মধ্যে অন্যতম।[১] এটি হযরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরের কাছে অবস্থিত।

ইতিহাস

১৯৪১ সালে দ্বিতীয় বিশ্বযুদ্ধের সময় ব্রিটিশ সরকার কোহিমার (তৎকালীন আসামে) যুদ্ধক্ষেত্র ও বার্মিজ যুদ্ধের হুমকির মুখে সেদিকে যুদ্ধবিমান পরিচালনা করার জন্য তেজগাঁও থেকে কয়েক কিলোমিটার উত্তরে কুর্মিটোলায় সেই সময়ের একটি সামরিক বিমানবন্দর তেজগাঁও বিমানবন্দরের জন্য অতিরিক্ত অবতরণের স্থান হিসেবে একটি অবতরণ স্থল তৈরি করেছিল। ১৯৮১ সালে অবতরণ স্থলটিকে একটি আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরে রূপান্তরিত করা হয়।[২] একই এলাকায় ৯ এপ্রিল ২০১৩ সালে আরেকটি বিমানঘাঁটি নির্মিত ও উদ্বোধন করা হয়।[৩] ১০ ডিসেম্বর ২০১৪ সালে হংদু জেএল-৮ নামে একটি প্রশিক্ষণ জেট বিমানঘাঁটিতে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হয়েছিল।[৪] ৪ ডিসেম্বর ২০১৬ সালে শেখ হাসিনার তৃতীয় মন্ত্রিসভা কর্তৃক এটিকে জাতীয় মানে উন্নীত হিসেবে ঘোষণা করা হয়।[৫]
