ঔষধনির্মাণ শিল্প বা সংক্ষেপে ঔষধ শিল্প একটি বৃহৎ শিল্প যার দায়িত্ব মানুষ ও পশুর জন্য ব্যবহারযোগ্য ঔষধ আবিষ্কার, উদ্ভাবন, নির্মাণ, শিল্পোৎপাদন ও বাজারজাতকরণ। ঔষধগুলি সাধারণত সূঁচের মাধ্যমে প্রবেশযোগ্য তরল কিংবা মুখ দিয়ে ভক্ষণযোগ্য কঠিন রূপে থাকে। ঔষধগুলির উদ্দেশ্য রোগ নিরাময় করা, রোগ প্রতিষেধক টীকা হিসেবে কাজ করা কিংবা রোগের উপসর্গের উপশম করা।[১][২]

ঔষধনির্মাতা ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলি ঔষধবিজ্ঞান ও (ঔষধের) রোগ-নিরাময়বিদ্যা সংক্রান্ত গবেষণাগুলি পরিচালনা করে ও এগুলির পৃষ্ঠপোষকতা করে, যাতে বিদ্যমান মানবরোগ ও পশুরোগগুলির জন্য নতুন ঔষধ তৈরি বা বিদ্যমান ঔষধের উন্নতিসাধন করা যায়। সামগ্রিকভাবে পশ্চিমা ঔষধনির্মাণ শিল্প অনেক রোগের নিরাময়কারী ঔষধ আবিষ্কার করলেও নিম্ন-আয়ের দেশগুলিতে যেসব রোগের প্রাদুর্ভাব বেশি যেমন ম্যালেরিয়া, যক্ষ্মা, ইত্যাদির জন্য কম দামের সহজলভ্য ঔষধ নির্মাণে ধীরগতির পরিচয় দিয়েছে।[৩]

ঔষধনির্মাতা ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলি অবাণিজ্যিক বা মার্কাহীন ঔষধ কিংবা মার্কাযুক্ত ঔষধ নিয়ে কাজ করতে পারে। ঔষধের কৃতিসত্ব (প্যাটেন্ট), পরীক্ষণ, নিরাপত্তা, কার্যকারিতা এবং বাজারজাতকরণ সংক্রান্ত বিভিন্ন ধরনের আইন ও বিধিমালা এই ঔষধ নির্মাতা ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলির উপর প্রযুক্ত হয়।
