Амерыканскі біяграфічны інстытут

Амерыканскі біяграфічны інстытут (англ.: American Biographical Institute) — былая прыватная арганізацыя ў ЗША (Ролі, Паўночная Караліна), якая спецыялізавалася на прысваенні розных званняў і ўзнагарод марным людзям ад свайго імя, а таксама публікацыі іх біяграфій у сваіх спецыяльных выданнях з прэстыжнымі назвамі.

У іншых краінах таксама існуюць падобныя арганізацыі, такія як Міжнародны біяграфічны цэнтр (Вялікабрытанія), «Чалавек года» (Украіна).

Гісторыя

Амерыканскі біяграфічны інстытут быў створаны ў 1967 годзе. Існаваў за кошт платы за прысваенне тытулаў і званняў ад асоб, якім яны прысвойваліся, а таксама за продаж розных публікацый з біяграфіямі гэтых людзей.

Узнагароды палітыкаў, журналістаў, і іншых часта асуджаліся як махлярства. Урад Заходняй Аўстраліі лічыць Амерыканскі біяграфічны інстытут выдаўцом-махляром, які «звяртаецца да людзей, якія жадаюць мець памятную дошку на сваёй сцяне альбо ўбачыць сваё імя ў кнізе, нават калі ўшанаванне не мае сапраўднага даверу — па сутнасці, яны набываюць ушанаванні»[1].

Кампанія збанкрутавала ў 2012 годзе[2].
