Паліцыя

Палі́цыя (фр.: Police, ад стар.-грэч.: ἡ πολιτεία — «дзяржава») — орган дзяржаўнай улады (сістэма дзяржаўных органаў), які займаецца аховай грамадскага парадку і барацьбой з правапарушэннямі (у т.л. са злачыннасцю). Разам са службай бяспекі, выведвальным і контрвыведніцкім органамі, а таксама некаторымі іншымі спецыялізаванымі органамі, паліцыя складае праваахоўны механізм дзяржавы (гл. Праваахоўныя органы).

У залежнасці ад асаблівасцяў канкрэтнай дзяржавы паліцыя можа ўваходзіць у склад міністэрства ўнутраных спраў (напрыклад, Расія, Чэхія), або ў склад міністэрства юстыцыі (напрыклад, Швецыя), ці ж у склад самастойнага адміністрацыйнага органа (напрыклад, нацыянальнага паліцэйскага агенцтва), які (самастойны орган) можа быць альбо асобным органам выканаўчай улады або ўваходзіць у склад праваахоўных органаў з больш шырокімі паўнамоцтвамі (напрыклад, Нацыянальнае паліцэйскае агенцтва Японіі з'яўляецца складовай Камітэта дзяржаўнай грамадскай бяспекі Японіі).
