Tomas Samuel Kun (18 İyul 1922 - 17 İyun 1996) — amerikan fiziki, elm tarixçisi və fəlsəfəçisi. Kunun ən əhəmiyyətli əsəri 1962-ci ildə yayımlanan Elmi inqilabların stukturu adlı kitabıdır. Bu kitab həm akademik ictimaiyyət, həm də populyar elm dairələrində böyük təsir buraxmış və məşhur paradiqma sürüşməsi terminini daxil etmişdir.

Tomas Kun elmi biliyin inkişafı haqqında əhəmiyyətli töhfələr vermişdir. Kuna görə elm sahələri bir istiqamətdə və davamlı inkişafdan çox mütəmadi olaraq paradiqma sürüşmələrindən təsirlənir və bu paradiqma sürüşmələri alimlərin daha öncə keçərli qəbul etmədikləri tezislərə qarşı yeni bir anlayışın ortaya çıxmasına səbəb olur. Bu səbəblə "elmi doğru" anlayışı hər hansı bir zamanda sadəcə tərəfsizlik meyarı ilə təyin oluna bilməz; elm dairələrində fikir birliyi də elmi cəhətdən doğru fikrin yaranmasında eyni dərəcədə dəyərlidir. Rəqabət edən paradiqmalar çox zaman müqayisə edilmir, çünki paradiqmalar gerçəkliyin rəqabət edən və uzaqlaşdırıla bilməyən şərhləridir. Bu səbəblə elm anlayışımız əsla tam obyektivliyə söykənə bilməz. Bütün obyektiv çıxarışlar bu nəticələri alan araşdırmaçı və iştirakçıların şəxsi dünyagörüşü və şərtlənməsindən təsirləndiyi üçün subyektiv perspektivlər də nəzərə alınmalıdır.
