San-Fransisko zəlzələsi — 18 aprel 1906-cı ildə ABŞ-də baş vermiş zəlzələ^[6].

1906-cı ilin aprel ayının 18-də yerli vaxtla saat 05:12 radələrində episentri ABŞ-nin San-Fransisko şəhərindən 3 km. qərbdə olmaqla 7,6 bal gücündə zəlzələ baş vermişdi. Zəlzələ ən güclü tektonik zonalardan birinin üzərində yerləşən bütün San-Andreas dərəsini sarsmışdı.

Yer səthində əmələ gəlmiş çatın uzunluğu 400 kilometrə çatırdı. San-Fransisko şəhərinin su kəməri magistralları partlamış, qaz kəməri, telefon və elektrik kabelləri sıradan çıxmışdı. Sobaların dağılması və elektrik xətlərində baş vermiş qəzalar nəticəsində ətrafı yanğın bürümüşdü. Şəhərin su təminatı sisteminin də dağılması yanğının söndürülməsini daha da çətinləşdirirdi.

Şəhərdə fövqəladə vəziyyət elan edilmişdi. Əhali buxtadan evakuasiya olunur, «Qızıl Darvaza» adlanan parkda qaçqın düşərgələri salınırdı.

60 saniyə davam edən zəlzələ şəhərin təxminən 80%-nin (490 kvartal və ya 1052 ha sahənin tamamilə yanmasına, 30 məktəb, 80 kilsə və monastır, eləcə də kitabxanalar, teatr, şəhər idarəsi və s.) dağılmasına səbəb olmuşdu. 3 minə yaxın insan həlak olmuş, 250-300 min nəfər evsiz qalmışdı. Bu hadisədən sui-istifadə edən yüzlərlə soyğunçu isə törətdikləri əməllərə görə şəhər merinin əmri ilə yerindəcə güllələnirdi.

Bu dəhşətli zəlzələ və yanğın nəticəsində şəhərə 400 milyon ABŞ dolları məbləğində ziyan dəymişdi.

Aparılan əsaslı tədqiqatların nəticələrinə görə, San-Fransisko şəhərini gələcəkdə yer üzündən tamamilə silə biləcək daha güclü zəlzələnin baş verməsi ehtimal olunur. Buna baxmayaraq, şəhər əhalisi bu barədə düşünmək belə istəmir.
