Edvard Hovard Haus (ing. Edward Howard House; 5 oktyabr 1836, Boston – 18 dekabr 1901[1]) – ABŞ jurnalisti. O, ABŞ mətbuatında Yaponiya və yaponlar haqqında rəyin formalaşmasında vacib rol oynamış, Yaponiyada ingilisdilli "Tokyo Times" qəzetini yaratmışdır.[3]

Həyatı

Edvard Hovard Haus 1836-cı ildə ABŞ-nin Boston şəhərində doğulmuşdur.[3] Haus müxtəlif peşələrlə məşğul olmuşdur: musiqiçi, teatr meneceri, ABŞ Vətəndaş müharibəsi müxbiri, musiqi və teatr tənqidçisi.[3]

Haus 1871-ci ildə Yaponiyaya gələrək Tokio Universitetinin sələflərindən olan Kaysey Qakkoda müəllim kimi işləməyə başlamışdır.[3] Yaponiyanı dəstəkləyən baxışları səbəbilə Yaponiya hökuməti, xüsusilə də, Okuma Şiqenobu tərəfindən sevilən şəxsə çevrilmişdir.[3] Haus 1873-cü ildə müəllim postunu tərk edərək 1874-cü ildəki Tayvan ekspedisiyasında müharibə müxbiri kimi Yaponiya ordusunu müşayiət etmişdir.[3] 1877-ci ildə hökumətin dəstəyi ilə ingilisdilli "Tokyo Times" qəzetini yaratmış və 1880-ci ilə qədər redaktoru olmuşdur.[3] O, bu illərdə eksterritoriallıq, müqavilələrin yenilənməsi və xarici əlaqələr kimi məsələlərdə Yaponiyanın mövqeyini dəstəkləmişdir.[3]

Haus 1880-ci ildə ABŞ-yə qayıtmış, 1881-ci ilin əvvəlində isə Londona köçmüşdür.[3] Londonda teatr meneceri kimi işləməyə başlamışdır.[3] Daha sonra Yaponiyaya qayıtmış, həyatının son illərini Yaponiyada Qərb musiqisini təbliğ etməklə keçirmişdir.[3]

Təltifləri

Haus 1883-cü ildə iflic keçirdikdən sonra Yaponiya hökuməti ona ömürlük pensiya təyin etmiş və Yaponiya qarşısındakı xidmətlərinə görə "Müqəddəs xəzinə" ordeni ilə təltif etmişdir.[3]
