Arxar (lat. Ovis ammon) — heyvanlar aləminin xordalılar tipinin məməlilər sinfinin cütdırnaqlılar dəstəsinin boşbuynuzlular fəsiləsinin qoyun cinsinə aid heyvan növü.

Arxarlar ev qoyunlarının əcdadları sayılırlar. Aralıq dənizi adalarının bir neçəsində, Orta , mərkəzi, Şimal-şərqi, Şimali asiyada və Şimali Amerikanın qərbində yayılmışdır.

Xarici görünüşü

Arxarların kütləsi 200-220 kq-a qədər olur. Dişilər nisbətən kiçik olur. Olçulərindən başqa dişilərdə buynuz 10-30 sm əksər vaxtlarda isə olmur.

Davranışı

Bu heyvanlar dəniz səviyyəsindən 5500 metr yüksəklikdə açıq yamaclarda yaşayırlar. Payızda çütləşmə dövründə böyük sürülər əmələ gətirirlər. Arxarların hamiləlik dövrü 170 gün sürür. Bundan sonra onların 1-2 balaları dünyaya gəlir.
