Antiqua İctimai Kitabxanası (ing. Antigua Public Library) — Karib dənizində yerləşən Antiqua və Barbuda adalarından biri olan Antiqua adasında fəaliyyət göstərən əsas ictimai kitabxanadır. Kitabxana ölkənin ən qədim mədəni və təhsil ocaqlarından biri sayılır və ada əhalisinin oxumaq, tədqiqat aparmaq və məlumat əldə etmək ehtiyaclarını qarşılayır.[1]

İctimai kitabxana geniş çeşidli kitab kolleksiyası, eləcə də müxtəlif dövri nəşrlər, qəzetlər və audiovizual materiallar təklif edir. O, həmçinin yerli mədəni irsi qorumağa və məktəblər, tələbələr və yerli cəmiyyət üçün təhsil resursları təqdim etməyə xüsusi önəm verir.[2]

Antiqua İctimai Kitabxanası, təhsilin inkişafına və oxumaq mədəniyyətinin təşviqinə xidmət etmək üçün müxtəlif proqramlar və tədbirlər təşkil edir. Ölkənin tarixi, mədəniyyəti və irsi ilə bağlı sənədləri qoruyub saxlayır və onları gələcək nəsillərə çatdırmağa çalışır.[3]

Tarixi

İctimai kitabxana 1830-cu ildə özəl müəssisə kimi yaradılmışdır. 1932-ci il hesabatına görə, məqsəd “ümumi ədəbiyyatın daimi kitabxanasının və əlaqəli oxu zalının tədricən formalaşdırılması” idi.

Parlament aktı tezliklə Antiquan Kitabxana Cəmiyyətini təsis etdi və kitabxananın statusunu korporasiya statusuna dəyişdirdi. 1843-cü ildə zəlzələ kitabxananı və onun sahiblərinin şəxsi əmlakını qismən dağıdıb, onların xarab olmasına səbəb olub. Hökumət 1854-cü ildə mülkiyyəti öz üzərinə götürərək, idarəetməni 1871-ci ildə səlahiyyətləri artan yerli qəyyumlara həvaləetdi.[4]
